Claude D. Gaston, 84, of Jeffersonton, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 2, 2017.
He was born in western Kansas to Claude and Ethyl Gaston on December 4, 1932.
Mr. Gaston joined the Army at age 18 and fought in Korea. Following the war, he got his bachelor’s degree in history and his master’s degree in education. Mr. Gaston devoted his life to serving the Lord and his church, loving and caring for his family, and educating young people in the fields of social studies.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Shirley Gaston of Jeffersonton; his son, Zack Godwin of Cherryville, N.C.; his daughter, Jola Peil of Culpeper; three granddaughters and a great granddaughter, Nancy Peil of Glen Allen, Gretchen Peil of Arcata, Calif., Anna Brown of Brightwood and Avery Cifers of Glen Allen.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, November 6, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. The funeral and burial will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, at Little Fork Episcopal Church near Rixeyville.
