Elizabeth James Foley, 72, of Warrenton, passed away on November 24, 2018, at her home.
She was born on January 18, 1947, in Martin County, North Carolina, to the late Samuel Clinton James and Louise Deal James.
Elizabeth was a 1964 graduate of Gates County High School in North Carolina, received her Bachelors Degree in 1968 from East Carolina University and her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of South Carolina. She was a librarian in Fauquier County Public Schools, retiring from Liberty High School. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, near Warrenton and the Fauquier Springs Country Club. She was an avid quilter and a member of the Fauquier County Quilters Guild. She enjoyed playing bridge but “was terrible at it.”
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert E. Foley; two sons, Adam Foley and wife Amy of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Scott Foley and wife Lucy of Atlanta; a sister, Janet Cercopely and husband Dee of Summerton, South Carolina, and two grandchildren, Lyle James Foley and Cooke Edward Foley.
A reception in her honor will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 3, at Fauquier Springs Country Club. Casual dress is requested.
