Esther Anna Dixon Halvorson, 100, of McLean, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at the Commonwealth Senior Living facility in Front Royal.
Born on July 14, 1917, in Appleton, Minnesota, she was the daughter of the late John and Clara Dixon.
She was the devoted wife of the late Lloyd Chester Halvorson, who passed away on July 4, 2006. They had been happily married for 64 years.
Mrs. Halvorson graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1940 and she married Lloyd Halvorson in 1942. He was a childhood friend and a fellow University of Minnesota graduate. Her growing family in 1950 moved to McLean, where they enjoyed being part of the growing community. Mr. and Mrs. Halvorson were founding members of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in McLean, here she remained a loyal member the rest of her life.
She worked as a legal assistant for a patent attorney from 1962 to 1975, when she retired. After many happy retirement years in the Halvorsons moved to Warrenton in 1999 to care for their property in Fauquier County. She enjoyed many happy years in the Warrenton area until 2013, when she moved to an assisted living facility in Front Royal.
Mrs. Halvorson was the loving mother of and is survived by Alice Alley and her husband Richard, Lloyd Eric Halvorson, Carol Miller and her husband Gregory, and Karen Bourne and her husband Philip. In addition, she is survived by nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
