Ethel Louise Russell Hume, 85, of Warrenton, passed away on November 4, 2017, at her home.
She was born December 19, 1931, at Orlean, to the late John Garland Russell and Mary Jeffries Russell.
Mrs. Hume was a 1949 graduate of Warrenton High School. From December of 1960 until her retirement in January 1992, she was employed with the Warrenton Training Center. She was a lifetime member of the Orlean United Methodist Church and was a founding member of the Orlean Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She and her husband enjoyed playing golf and were members at Fauquier Springs Country Club and Quinton Oaks Golf Club.
In her later years, Mrs. Hume enjoyed her new family, the residents and staff at the Villas at Suffield and the activities offered there.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Thomas Rudasill Hume.
Survivors include her son, Thomas G. “Teddy” Hume and wife Karyn of Haymarket; her daughter, Jean H. Miller and husband Bill of Orlean; two sisters, Juanita Russell of Warrenton and Emily Mae Colvin of Georgia; a brother, Harry R. Russell of Warrenton; four grandchildren, Shannon Hendricks, Brian Hume and wife Aneta, Steven Miller and wife Elizabeth and Bobby Miller and wife Erin; seven grandchildren, and her lifetime friend with whom she enjoyed traveling and playing cards, Joan Blackwell.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, when the service will begin at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. Interment will follow at Orlean Cemetery.
