Bill Darnell Farmer, 83, loving husband, devoted father, beloved brother, grandfather and best friend, passed away December 30, 2017, at his home in Midland.
He was born on October 1, 1934, to the late Ezekiel “Jack” and Minnie Farmer in the Buchanan County village of Davenport.
Mr. Farmer served his country in the U.S. Army and owned and operated Farmer Construction. His devotion and love for his wife, family and friends were the essence of who he was. He had a passion for his farm, his racehorses, woodworking and metal detecting. Mr. Farmer enriched the lives of everyone he met with his sense of humor, sincerity, generosity and humbleness.
Survivors include his beloved wife, R. Pauline Farmer; three daughters, Bridgette D. Farmer of Midland, Marilyn D. Lawson and husband Roger of Culpeper, and Sheila D. Farmer of Bealeton; his grandson, Jeffrey A. Boggs of Midland; his great grandchildren, Maleah and Khason; three sisters, Mildred Mitchell of St. Petersburg, Florida, Hilma Stuby and Elaine Viegas of Oakland, California, and three brothers, Lyal Farmer and wife Betty of Culpeper, Arnold Farmer and wife Jane of Dayton, Ohio, and Harold Farmer of Hazel Hurst, Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by siblings Betty O’Quinn of Lebanon, Virginia, Jack Farmer of New Orleans and Ralph Farmer of Vansant, Virginia.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 20, at Faith Baptist Church in Bealeton to honor a life well lived. A family interment will be conducted in the future at the Ratliff-Breeden Cemetery in Davenport.
