Obituaries » Caron A. Behrens

Caron A. Behrens, 75, of Warrenton, peacefully passed into the the Lord’s hands at 8 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2018. All in the family were with her.

Mrs. Behrens put up a strong battle with breast and lung cancer for the past five years. Doctors often referred to her as a “feisty lady” and passed around jovial caution about her “weird sense of humor.”

She was born May 7, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Marion and Hugh Applin.

Mrs. Behrens was devoted to her family and served her country. She was a federal employee for 14 years, with assignments in Washington, Los Angles and Saigon, Vietnam. She met and married the love of her life, Jim Behrens, while both were on assignment in Saigon (1967-70). Together they went on overseas tours to Nicosia, Cyprus, Athens, Greece, and Monrovia, Liberia.

They built their earth-sheltered home on the outskirts of Warrenton in 1981, when Mrs. Behrens quickly realized her ability to tie steel rebar as well as any professional. She loved her home and her family very much, as well as the animals they have shared their home with throughout the years. She loved the emerald green waters of Fort Walton Beach and the Bahamas where, her mother and she had several beach side properties. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and indoor plants and visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, James E. Behrens; a son Eric J. Behrens of Warrenton, and two daughters, Kari An Behrens of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and Terra Almond Throgmorton and husband Master Sgt. Joseph Throgmorton of Fort Walton Beach, Florida.  Preceded in death are her mother Marion Applin, and father Hugh Applin.

Memorial contributions be made to her favorite charity, St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or your favorite charity.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 19, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Warrenton.

Notes may be sent to the family at or to the home at 7588 Porch Road, Warrenton, Virginia 20187.
