Clara Virginia Dickerson, 91, of Bealeton, died peacefully Feb. 27, 2017, at Blue Ridge Christian Home.
She was born Aug. 14, 1925, in Washington, D.C., to the late Otto and Ruth Neilson.
Mrs. Dickerson a graduate of Eastern High School and Bowie State College, where she earned a teaching degree. A gifted teacher of math, she devoted her life to the education of children, ensuring they were encouraged and challenged, even in the summer months.
She loved music, played piano, led the choir and taught Sunday school at church.
Survivors include her husband of 74 years, Clarence E. “Eddie” Dickerson Jr.; their five children, Clarence E. “Dick” Dickerson III, Allen R. Dickerson, Michael L. Dickerson, George E. Dickerson and Ruth Potter; 13 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, when Pastor Matthew Gregory will conduct the funeral at Soul Purpose Community Church, 12698 Shipps Store Road, Bealeton. Interment will follow at the Midland Cemetery.
