Ernest Dale Campbell, 73, of Catlett, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017. at Fauquier Hospital.
He was born April 19, 1943, in Grassy Creek, N.C., to the late Luther and Janell Campbell.
During the Vietnam era, Mr. Campbell served in the U.S. Army. He had a long career in the computer industry, working for IBM for 32 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, hunting and fishing. He was a gifted woodworker and crafted musical instruments.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Cathy Campbell; his children, Cheryl Lessing and husband Gary and David Campbell and wife Mary; his siblings, Bill Campbell and wife Lynn, Linda Ellsworth and husband Barry, Randy Campbell and wife PiChu and Earl Campbell; a brother-in-law, Don Saunders; a sister-in-law, Jeanne Wilder, and his grandchildren, Gary Lessing, Rachel Lessing, Deanna Lessing, Michael Campbell and Matthew Campbell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Ann Robertson and Jean Saunders, and brother-in-law, Gary Wilder.
A memorial service will take place at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Stoneridge Events Center, 7373 Comfort Inn Drive, Warrenton.
