Dorothy Lewis “Dot” Fletcher, 97, of Warrenton, passed peacefully July 27, 2017, at the Blue Ridge Christian home near Bealeton.
She was born Nov. 30, 1919, in Reedville, to the late Grover and Dorothy Lewis.
Mrs. Fletcher earned her registered nursing degree from Johnston-Willis in Richmond and then served as an Army nurse during World War II. She worked as the visiting school nurse for Fauquier County Public Schools for 15 years. Mrs. Fletcher enjoyed playing tennis and being on the water at her Reedville house. She volunteered for many years at the Fauquier Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop. She was a member of St. James' Episcopal Church.
Survivors include her three children, Catherine G. Foster and husband Steve, Ann F. Sentz and husband Tom, and Thad Fletcher, all of Warrenton; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and her faithful friend and caregiver, Alma Fisher.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Thaddeus N. Fletcher III, who passed in 1994, and her three siblings, Evelyn Atwill, Grover Lewis and John Lewis.
The funeral will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, July 31, at St. James’ Episcopal Church in Warrenton. Interment will follow at Warrenton Cemetery.
