Elaine Ann Knight, 84, of Sumerduck, died peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Fauquier Health and Rehab.
She was born on September 8, 1933, in Rockville, Connecticut, the oldest daughter of Homer and Marie Waltz.
Mrs. Knight retired from the accounting department of Raytheon (E-Systems) in Falls Church after 27 years of service and was a member of Morrisville United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and was active in the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed reading, knitting and tending flowers.
Survivors include two daughters, Janice M. Sloan and husband Rial F. of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, and Ruth A. Walker and husband Jim D. of Sumerduck; seven grandchildren, Rial Sloan II and wife Molly, Robert Sloan and wife Katie, Richard Sloan and wife Emily, Jennifer King and husband Justin, Daniel Walker, Charles Walker and Adam Walker; four great-grandchildren, Alden Sloan, Noah Sloan, T.J. King and Jax Sloan; a sister, Doreen Ward and husband John of Rockville, Connecticut, and John “Jack” Waltz and wife Fern of Burdett, New York.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, R. Edward Knight.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton.
A memorial service and celebration of Mrs. Knight’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 28, Morrisville United Methodist Church, followed by lunch in the fellowship hall.
Interment will be private.
