George William Baker Jr., 61, of Winchester, died Sunday, May 6, 2018, at the Winchester Medical Center.
He was born February 5, 1957, in Warrenton, to George W. Baker Sr. and Gladys Rider Baker.
Mr. Baker was a lifetime member and past vice president of the Remington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. He was a fisherman and a gardener in his spare time. He doted on his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Kathy Baker; his children, Heather Riddle and husband Billy of Waynesville, N.C., Bobby Baker and wife Heather of Culpeper, Todd Lewis and wife Heather of Winchester, David Williams Jr. and wife Ashley of Winchester, Bryan Williams and wife Chelsea of Key Largo, Fla., and Josh Williams of Warrenton; 13 grandchildren; a brother, Mike Baker; a sister, Debbie Baker, and a large extended family.
A son, George Baker III, and a brother, Dennis Baker, preceded him in death.
A Remington fire truck will carry Mr. Baker’s ashes from Phelps Funeral Home at noon Saturday, May 12, to the Remington Fire and Rescue Station at 200 E. Marshall St. Rev. Steve Melester will conduct the memorial service at 2 p.m. at the station.
