Greg S. Coffey, 53, of Warrenton, died Friday, March 3, 2017, at Novant Haymarket Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.
Born March 24, 1963, in Charlotte, N.C., he graduated from Fauquier High School in 1981. Mr. Coffey earned a bachelor’s degree at George Mason University and a master’s at American University.
He began his career at AT&T, where he worked for 17 years, before joining Hewlett Packard Enterprise, where he was an account delivery executive. He spent thirteen years at Hewlett Packard and most recently managed the Under Armor Account.
Mr. Coffey was a lifelong snowmobiler and avid sailor. He cherished time on his boat “Coyote” and racing with the Herrington Harbour Sailing Association on the Chesapeake. An avid golfer, he was a member of Fauquier Springs Country Club and Heritage Oaks Golf and Country Club in Sarasota, Fla. He also was active in the Gainesville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include wife of 29 years, Lucia Westlake Coffey; his parents, Mitchell and Doris Coffey of Warrenton; a sister and brother-in-law, Darlene R. and John Varelli of Thurmont, Md.; a nephew and his wife, Jimmy and Angela Kowalewski of Front Royal; a niece and her husband, Tiffany and Chris Nowak of Louisville, Ky., and four godchildren, Michael Dorsey and Steven Dorsey of Warrenton and Stephanie Grimes and Natalie Grimes of Virginia Beach.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 10, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. Pastor John Patterson will conduct the funeral at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at the Warrenton United Methodist Church. Interment to follow at Little Georgetown Cemetery near Broad Run.
