Hazel Elizabeth Heflin Cranford, 97, of Amissville, died at home on March 7, 2017.
She was born Aug. 7, 1919 in Orlean, to the late Cynthia and Mitchel Heflin.
Mrs. Cranford’s strong work ethic was one of her many qualities. She was a valued longtime employee of the Hot Shoppe Restaurant in Falls Church, as well as the Falls Church Public Schools. She will also be remembered for her love of gardening of vegetables and flowers on her property in Amissville.
Her husband, Richard Cranford; her son, Billy Heflin, and her siblings, Johnnie Heflin, Herman Heflin, Mary Andrews and Irene Farkas, preceded Mrs. Cranford in death.
Survivors include three sisters, Ella Putnam, Dorothy “Pat” and husband Jim Stanton and Gracie Wilson; her granddaughter, Claudia and husband Jimmy Cholerton; two great grandchildren, Blake and Hope; her daughter-in-law, Kay Heflin; many other beloved family members, friends and neighbors, and her faithful dog, Mark, who was by her side when she passed away.
Her family expresses sincere appreciation to her devoted caregivers, Nancy, Matthew and Cayla Williams, Bobbie Voorhies and Betty Weaver, her sister Pat Stanton and Hospice of Fauquier.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, March 10, when the service will begin at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. Burial will follow at Bright View Cemetery near Warrenton.
