Irma Jane Turner Wines, 82, a devoted wife and loving mom, died of cancer on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at her home in Midland.
Mrs. Wines was a Midland, Virginia resident for the past 54 years.
She was born October 3, 1935, in Culpeper, to the late Pearl Embrey Turner Jones and Russell Turner. After attending Bealeton High School, Mrs. Wines was employed at the Pentagon gift shop for a short time, then was a babysitter for lots of children throughout the years. She was an immaculate homemaker and a resident of Midland for the last 54 years. She was a longtime member of the Midland United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her two children, Franklin Wines of Stafford County and Susan Calapodas of Williamsburg; seven grandchildren: Melissa Wines, Mandi Wines, Nicholaus Wines, Maia Wines, Katerina Calapodas, Joanne Calapodas and William Calapodas; a great-grandchild, Tyler Nicholaus Cook Wines; her sisters, Frances Meehan, Elizabeth Poage, Doris Beard, Peggy Hilton and Charlotte Kilby; a brother, Harry Turner, and a sister-in-law, Pegi Schervish.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Wines; a son, Larry Wines Jr.; three sisters, Jean Sparks, Gladys Turner and Joyce Turner, and two brothers, John Turner and Bernard Turner.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, at the Midland Cemetery.
