Kenneth Leon “Gus” Shamblin, 81, passed away July 9, 2017, at his home in Marshall.
He was born April 5, 1936, in Delaplane, to the late Henry Pearson and Elvira Shamblin.
Mr. Shamblin enjoyed a lifelong occupation as a gardener, and retired from Rokeby Farms after 32 years there. He was a longtime, loyal Dallas Cowboys fan.
His wife, Judy Kathleen Shamblin, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his children, David Shamblin of Upperville, Thomas Shamblin and wife Alicia of Front Royal, John Shamblin and friend Lori Sisson of The Plains, Brenda Wines and husband, Fred, who was a special caretaker to Mr. Shamblin during his illness, of Marshall, James Shamblin and wife Dawn of Front Royal,= and Gregory Shamblin of Marshall; his siblings: Sam Shamblin, Gene Shamblin, Alice Manuel and Paul Shamblin; 10 grandchildren who called him “Dede,” including a special granddaughter Abbagail Shamblin and grandson Bo Wines of Marshall, and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, when the service will begin at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. Interment will be in Ivy Hill Cemetery in Upperville.
