Obituaries » Mary Ann Schwab

Mary Ann Schwab, 85, of Warrenton passed away peacefully at home on April 24, 2017.

Born on Jan. 30, 1932, she was the only child of her devoted parents, the late Harry T. and Ida Lee “Dee” Edwards.

A top academic performer and active student, she graduated from the old Warrenton High School in 1949. She then worked as a bookkeeper at Gill Implement Co. before eventually finding a dream job with Carr & Hyde, where she worked from 1974 until her retirement in 1999.

Mrs. Schwab loved more than anything her three sons, extended family, her many friends and her Warrenton United Methodist Church family. She was almost universally described as being “the sweetest person you’ll ever meet.”

Family and friends will remember her always for her kindness, warmth, unconditional love and generous nature.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 66 years, E.C. Schwab.

Survivors include her three boys, Ernest C. “Skip” Schwab of Christiansburg, Charles E. “Chip” Schwab and his wife Candy of Marietta, Ohio, Harry T. Schwab of Warrenton; her grandchildren, Ryan Schwab and his wife Nasim and their children, Lilia and Neil of Salem, Kristen Schwab of Christiansburg, Charlie Schwab and his wife Agata of Marietta, Ohio and Kate Schwab of Marietta. Others we wish to acknowledge are Hazel Attkisson of Alexandria, Nancy Hanrahan Schwab of Christiansburg, Lydia Schoenbrunn of Simsbury, Conn., and Kitty Blanton of Apex, N.C.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, May 1, when the service will begin at Warrenton United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Warrenton Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Warrenton United Methodist Church, 341 Church St., Warrenton, Va. 20186.
