Mary Thorpe Campbell, 88, of Warrenton, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017.
She was born November 7, 1929, in Fauquier County, to the late Lucian and Dora Thorpe.
Mrs. Campbell was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her family and was blessed with a long and loving relationship with the van Roijen family. A long-time member of the Warrenton Baptist Church, she volunteered many hours preparing Brotherhood dinners and Wednesday night suppers for more than 40 years. Mrs. Campbell was also a past member of the Warrenton Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, reading, dancing and taking care of others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph C. Campbell; her brothers, Albert Thorpe and John Thorpe, and four sisters, Betty Gray, Callie Beales, Nellie Pool and Mattie Thorpe.
She is survived by her daughters, Grace Wheat of South Carolina, Joanne Miller of Culpeper and Hilda Connor and husband Mike of Culpeper; her granddaughter, Heather “Kristy” White and husband Tim of Rixeyville; her grandsons, Travis Miller and Allen “Cee” Edwards Jr. of Culpeper; her great grandchildren, Ross White, Ryan White, Allie Edwards, Aiden Miller and Joseph Miller; her sisters, Lucy Rocha of California and Texanna Johnson of South Carolina, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 28, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. The service will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Warrenton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
