Ralph Randall “Randy” Dollarhyde, 69, of Broad Run, died June 5, 2018, at Haymarket Health Center after battling a series of heart complications.
He was born August 31, 1948, in Wise, Virginia, to Ralph Huff and Georgia Etta Dollarhyde. Along with enjoying his undeniably luminous spirit, infectious smile and one-of-a-kind laugh, we were blessed to have learned many valuable lessons from Randy during his lifetime, including the meaning of hard work, loyalty and compassion.
After serving in the U.S. Army (Green Beret) and being awarded a Bronze Star, Mr. Dollarhyde spent 47 years as a dedicated mechanic for Schindler Elevator Corporation, through which he made many longtime friends. He was known for having all the tricks of the trade and was relied on by many to provide answers when there seemed to be none. He never failed to offer guidance or a helping hand to anyone in need.
He is survived by his two daughters, Alyssa Dollarhyde of Broad Run and Lucretia Dollarhyde-Averett of Winchester, and his sister Anita “Sue” Perlman of Wise.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his bride and soulmate, Lana S. Dollarhyde, to whose arms he has finally returned.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton.
