Ray Hager, 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Warrenton on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017.
He was born May 22, 1925, in Boone County, W.Va., to the late Fred Hager and Eva Mae Burgess.
After high school, Mr. Hager spent some time in the U.S. Navy, before settling down as the owner and operator of Hager’s Shoes in New Martinsville, W.Va. He was also employed at PPG Industries for 25 years. Mr. Hager was a member of Belvoir Assembly of God.
Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Ruby C. Hager; his daughter, Brenda Michaux and husband Jerry of Rochester, Mich.; two grandchildren, Lisa Michaux of Rochester, Mich., and Jeff Michaux of St. Louis, Mo.; a great granddaughter, Morgan Michaux of Rochester, Mich.; a stepdaughter and step son-in-law, the Revs. Robert and Deborah Shank of Warrenton; four step-grandchildren, Brooke Taylor and husband Jesse of Luray, the Rev. Brandon Shank and wife Casey of Virginia Beach, Bradley Monninger and wife Susan of Greencastle, Pa., and Shawn Monninger and wife Tracey of Greencastle Pa., and nine step great-grandchildren.
His first wife, Kathleen Hager; his sister, Ellen Mullins, and a stepson, Brad Monninger, preceded Mr. Hager in death.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. The Rev. Robert Shank will conduct the funeral at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at the Belvoir Assembly of God church near Marshall. Interment will take place Thursday, Feb. 23, at Orchard Hill Memory Gardens in Yawkey, W.Va.
