William Ray “Bill” Chappell Sr., 80, of Remington, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Culpeper Regional Hospital.
He was born March 24, 1936, in Easley, S.C., to the late Taft & Irene Chappell.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 38 years, Sharon L. Chappell; seven children, William “Billy” Ray Chappell Jr. and wife Sue of Vienna, Kenny Shrey and wife Carolyn of Haymarket, Judith Wade and husband Richard of Panama City, Fla., Cheryl Shrey-Hovey and husband Randal of Culpeper, Daniel Chappell and wife Sara of Culpeper, Katelyn Kilpatrick of Woodbridge and Kristin Chappell of Remington; two sisters, Frances Andrews and husband Andy of Casselton, Fla., and Sarah Hancock of Columbia, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Danielle, Will, Eric, Gail, Colin, Brynn and Nicole; four great-grandchildren, Cole, Dylan, Karson and Zoë; and extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 19, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. The service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, March 20, at the funeral home. Interment to follow at National Memorial Park cemetery in Falls Church.
