Obituaries » Garnet H. Lake

Garnet Harrington Lake, 94, of Warrenton, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 29, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones

She was born on July 13, 1922, in Bluemont, to the late Waymon E. Harrington and Eva Williams Harrington.

As a young mother, Garnet volunteered at Graham Road United Methodist Church in Falls Church, as a Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Lake retired after 35 years as an administrative secretary for the comptroller general at the United States General Accounting Office in Washington, D.C

Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Lake Kelly and husband Les of Richmond and Barbara Dwyer of Manassas; a son, Richard Ashton Lake Jr. and wife Phyllis of Warrenton; seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lake was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Richard Ashton Lake, and her sister, Dorothy Bryant.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. The service will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 6, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Warrenton Cemetery.
