Granville Boyd Pauley, 73, of Rixeyville and formerly of Upperville, departed peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Adler Center for Caring on Saturday, May 12, 2018.
He was born March 9, 1945, in Rose Hill, Virginia, to the late son of the late Hughie and Marie Pauley.
Mr. Pauley and his wife Carolyn lived on Rokeby Farms near Upperville, where he began working in 1973 until his retirement August of 2017. He loved farming and gardening. His garden was admired by many throughout the years. If he found his children or siblings were in need of food, he would add rows to his garden to take care of them. And he would always leave a basket of vegetables under the willow tree for others, too. His hobby was woodworking. Over the years he would create numerous pieces to be given to his children. =He was a quiet, gentle man, who always had a smile and said hello to everyone he met.
In addition to everyone who has been supportive, the family would like to express sincere thanks to Carolyn “Mama” Johnson for her friendship, love, help and care she has given the family and Mr. Pauley.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 49 years, Carolyn Rice Pauley; three children, Scott Pauley and wife Nancy of Mineral, Kimberly Walkup and husband Robert of Rixeyville and Jaime Pauley Foster and husband Kevin of Front Royal; five siblings, Joanne Hunter and husband Ed of Hanover, Pennsylvania, Alva Pauley and wife Judy of Front Royal, Mary Wingert of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Jerry Pauley and wife Carol of Amissville and Ricky Pauley and wife Rosalie of Front Royal; nine grandchildren, Robert Boyd, Ashleigh, Katie, Andrew, Nathan, Jake, Cammi, Caroline and Asher, and seven great-grandchildren, Kierstyn, Hazen, Elijah, Hayleigh, Brayden, Kelly-Mae and Anya.
