Henry M. “Scott” Keyser III, 57, after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma, passed peacefully on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at his home in Washington, Va.
He was born in Loudoun County, Virginia, on July 26, 1961, to Nancy L. Keyser and the late Henry M. Keyser Jr.
After graduating high school, Scott joined and served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps. He then completed his farrier degree at the North Texas Horseshoeing Institute and built a business, first in Fairfax County and then later in Rappahannock County. He was very successful, well thought of and formed many special relationships with his clientele, both human and equine. He particularly loved working with foals.
Scott loved all animals, the outdoors and nature. His adventurous spirit led him on many exciting journeys. He was an avid sportsman and loved shooting sports, hunting, fishing, boating, canoeing, camping and riding his horses and mule.
He also enjoyed mentoring others and passed his shoeing and shooting sport skills on so that others could learn as well. He will be deeply missed.
In addition to his mother, Scott is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Arlette Janine Keyser; two brothers, Joseph Keyser and his wife, Kitty of Washington, Va., and Frank Keyser and his wife, Lissa of Fairfax, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A private celebration of Scott’s life will be held on a later date.
