James Phillip “Duke” Ellington, 58, died Sunday May 27, 2018, of a suspected heart attack. He was found in his home in Midland.
He was born on the August 22, 1959, in Portsmouth, the first child of Anne L. Ellington and the late Jimmie K. Ellington.
Mr. Ellington worked for Team Fishel as a safety coordinator and was retired from Virginia Electric and Power Co. He graduated from Fairfax High School in 1977 and was a member of Oak Dale Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Anne Ellington; his children, Jennifer, Zechariah, Bethany and David, and his grandson, James Michael Ellington.
Mr. Ellington was preceded in death by his brother, David L. Ellington; his sister, Phyllis Ellington, and his father, Jimmie K. Ellington.
There will be a viewing for people to say their goodbyes from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 1, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. The memorial service will take place at noon Saturday, June 2, Oak Dale Baptist Church. After the service, friends are invited to join the family at Mr. Ellington’s Midland home for a cookout and reminiscing in celebration of his life.
