Rev. Joseph Bernard Anderson Jr., 82, of Culpeper, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 16, 2017 at his home.
He was born January 10, 1935, in Upperville, to the late Joseph B. Anderson Sr. and Helen Louise Rose Anderson.
Rev. Anderson served as a Baptist pastor for 42 years in churches in Fauquier, Caroline, Loudoun and Spotsylvania counties.
He was a former member, chaplain and president of the Remington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. Rev. Anderson also served as a chaplain with the Good News Mission, a jail ministry in Arlington, Fairfax and Caroline counties.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Rachel H. Anderson; his daughter, Mary Ellen Clark and husband Ian of Culpeper, his son, John Anderson and wife Kelly of Bealeton; his daughter Ann Hodges and husband Chuck of Locust Grove; five grandchildren, Charles Hodges, Christopher Hodges, Kathryn Anderson, Jonathan Anderson and Matthew Anderson; two sisters, Betty Poland and Helen Hyre of West Virginia; a brother, Wharton Anderson of Delaplane; several nieces and nephews, and two special friends, Suzanne Dillingham of Remington and Patty McClary of Culpeper.
The funeral took place Saturday, August 19, at Remington Baptist Church.
