Judith Frances Whetzel, 69, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 11, 2018, surrounded by her family at her home in Nokesville.
She was born February 26, 1948, in Oita, Japan. Her birth name was Hitomi Hoshimoto, later changed to Judith Frances Bard when she was adopted at the age of 8 in spring of 1956 by her late parents, Col. Charles Robert Bard and Margaret Frances Bard.
Survivors include her two sons, John Sherman and his wife Nicole Sherman of Nokesville, and Jason Sherman and his wife Laura Jane Sherman of Gore; her brother, George Gidora of Harlingen Texas; seven grandsons, Jason Jr., Jacob, Jesse, John Jr., James, Joseph and Justin; her three best friends, Dorrie Wampler, Marilyn Robiya, and Misty Barbe; her former husband, John Sherman, and the Whetzel family, Baron Family, Dodd Family, Wedding Family, and the Koons Family of Koons of Manassas, where she was employed for 40 years.
The funeral will be held Friday, January 19, at 11 a.m. at Battlefield Baptist Church, 4361 Lee Hwy., Warrenton, VA 20187, followed by a burial at Bright View Cemetery with Pastor Greg Corcoran officiating. There will be a reception at Battlefield Baptist Church after the interment.
