Obituaries » Lawrence J. Martin Jr.

Lawrence “Larry” J. Martin Jr., 66, of Washington, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on August 9, 2017.

He was born on January 29, 1951, in Arlington.

Mr. Martin was a very proud Vietnam veteran, whose eyes always sparkled whenever he had a chance to meet and share stories with another fellow veteran. While in the service, he was an expert M-16 sharpshooter and tank driver. He loved the mountains, bald eagles and his favorite place, Tennessee. Mr. Martin was a huge jokester, who loved picking back and forth with his mother, as they shared the same sense of humor. He is loved greatly and will be missed tremendously.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Wallace Lee Jernigan.

He is survived by his mother, Catherine “Dinah” Cleburne Jernigan; four sisters, Sharon Garrett of Remington, Debbie Jenkins or Orange, Dinah Snow of Staunton and Denise Scott of Washington, Virginia; three brothers, Dell Jernigan and wife Lena of Tom Brooks, Robert “Danny” Jernigan of Washington, Virginia, and Charles “David” Jernigan and wife Dawn of Remington; his honorary brother and sister, Timmy Snyder and Gloria Snyder, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. His service will take place at 9 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, at the funeral home, followed by burial at Culpeper National Cemetery at 11 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Moser Funeral Home to help offset the service costs.
