Margaret Hester, 92, of Warrenton and formerly of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, passed away on the morning of February 19, 2018, in Warrenton.
Margaret Bernadette Walsh was born Aug. 1925 in Plymouth, Pennsylvania, to to the late Matthew and Sarah Hoffman Walsh. One of nine children, she grew up in a large but happy family during the Great Depression, always active and loving to dance.
She danced in to the arms of Martin James Hester and, after a wartime romance, they were married on October 4, 1947. She had two sons, Joseph and Martin, and they raised their sons faithfully in the Catholic Church.
A product of her hard-working generation, Mrs. Hester retired from her position at Pomeroy’s and, after the death of her husband, moved to Virginia to be closer to her sons.
She is survived by her two sons, Joseph Hester and wife Carole, and Martin Hester and wife Maria; four grandchildren, Meahgen Hester Fargo, Martin Hester, Michael Hester and Mary Hester), and a great-grandchild, Emersyn Fargo.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. She will be interred at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, at 9:30 a.m. Friday, February 23.
