Retired U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Norman George Brander, 71, passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, surrounded by family at his home in Warrenton.

He was born November 6, 1947, in Vallejo, California, to the late George and Juanita Brander.

A graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, he retired from active duty in 1992 following a 27-year career. He was president of his local AFA chapter, a lifelong San Francisco 49ers fan, a calm and firm leader with a sense of humor, a great friend, a loving husband and brother and a devoted father. He will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Brander; three children, Annie Brander and Christina Brander, both of Winchester, and Matthew A. Tucker and his wife Cara of Charlotte, North Carolina, and two siblings, Ronald F. Brander and his wife Diane of Oakley, California, and Debra Elaine Prushinski of Lynn, Massachusetts.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 16, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 276 Cleveland St., Warrenton. Interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice in Warrenton or to Randolph-Macon Academy indicating “AFA Scholarship in Memory of Chief Brander”.
