Robert Louis “Bob” Ward Sr., 80, a resident of Warrenton of many years, passed away in his home on April 3, 2018.
He was born December 20, 1937, in Gloversville, New York, to the late Herbert Ward and Ruth Cooper Zuckerware.
He was the former owner of Frost Diner in Warrenton up until 1997. Mr. Ward was a man who could build or fix anything and was quite the handyman. He is most known by his family for his military career in the U.S. Army as a food service specialist and retired with over 20 years of service in 1975.
Survivors include his wife, Viola Montana Ward; a son, Robert Louis Ward Jr. and wife Angela Young Ward)of Stafford, VA; a daughter, Karen Marie Ward of Warrenton; his siblings, Mary Ward Terry, Sharon Benson Ward of upstate New York, Charlene Dominco of Massachusetts, Frances Williams, Frank Ward, John Ward, Linda Brocom, Michael Ward, Lillian Houser, and Danielle Shibley; six grandchildren, Misty Tavishati and husband Todd, Bobbie Jo Hall and husband Dave, Stephanie Bruce and husband Chris, Jonathan Robert Louis Ward and wife Jennifer, Frank Ward and Matthew Ward, and 13 great-grandchildren, Kirsten and Bryce Tavishati, Tyler and Makyla Placek, Able, Dillan and Kayla Bruce, Austin and Ryan Hall, Piper Whitney, Jameson and Holden Ward.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Dottie Kruger, Shirley Ward Salvione, Sally Cozzolino and Caroline Ward, and a great granddaughter, August Anna Marie Placek.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, when the service will begin at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. A 1 p.m. shelter service will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery (new section).
