Tony Martin Anderson, 60, of Amissville, passed away April 5, 2019, at his residence.
Tony was born December 15, 1958, at Warren County Hospital in Front Royal, to Ford L. Anderson and Ethel Mae Campbell.
He graduated Fauquier High School in 1977 and went on to Alabama A&M on a football scholarship. Tony then joined the United States Army in 1980, where he was an SP4 Cryptologic Technician, and received the Samuel F. B. Morse Award. On May 17, 1984, Tony married the love of his life, Teresa Ann Pry, in Annapolis.
Tony and Teresa made their home in Amissville, Virginia where they raised their two children, Zachary and Megan. Tony was a proud United States Postal Service carrier and retired in 2015. Tony had a passion for motorcycles along with being a faithful fan of The Washington Redskins. Tony was also a member of the Through Hill Baptist Church. He was known by all for his compassion, generosity and described as “The Happy Mailman.” His heart was genuine and brought joy to everyone that would speak to him.
Tony is survived by his wife, Teresa Anderson; his son Zachary (Julie) Anderson of Amissville; his daughter, Megan (Greg) Gardner of Bealeton; his identical twin, Rodney (Wanda) Anderson of Manassas; a brother, Wayne Anderson of San Diego; a sister Saleika (Henry) Leak of Cohoes, New York; two stepbrothers ,Carlos (Ethel) Campbell of Tampa, Fla., and James Campbell of Richmond, and three grandchildren, Gavin Anderson, Gwenyth Gardner and Claire Gardner;
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel Mae Campbell and Ford L. Anderson, and a stepbrother Albert (Doris) Campbell of Warrenton.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton, followed by the burial at Culpeper National Cemetery.
