Data centers have a significant impact on the community's resources. And two in the Remington area and along with an electrical and solar plant demands some detailed analysis. A significant impact to a small town?
Water is a limited resource. Only once have I seen listed on subdivision or zoning change What is the water source? Rappahannock River or aquifer. How much water will be drawn? What impact will this have on residence, businesses?
What is the impact to the local electrical grid and will the data center have precedence and under what circumstances? A substation does not generate electricity.
There is a substation planned right behind the residential area, why? What planning has been done to control storm water drainage, and noise?
Will diesel fuel be used for backup generators? If yes what methods are in place should a spill occur?
Where and how are hazardous materials going to be disposed? Local? Out of County? Out of State?
When, where and how is regular refuse going to be disposed of?
If approved will Fauquier County residents have a first opportunity for employment?
Are any tax incentives being requested? If yes how is the County planning to justify them?
These questions need to be answered before any approval.
