It is just more of Trump's trickery. A shell game.

Traverse...this budget does not reduce the deficit for next year or our long-term debt. If we want to avoid economic catastrophe, as you say, then we need to reduce the total amount of government spending. The Trump budget does not reduce government spending at all. It simply moves spending from domestic programs to the military. His plan still has a $487 billion deficit.
I think I could support a budget that reduced domestic spending in order to balance the budget. But to reduce spending on programs that benefit Americans and not even make an attempt at reducing overall government spending is irresponsible.

Talk about bloated....Trump to spend 7th consecutive weekend at Trump-branded property, at enormous cost to taxpayers to the tune of $3.8 million each time ($26.6 million in 2 MONTHS). That adds up to a LOT of money that could be spent on education, after school programs, and food for kids and the elderly. But what the heck, those people don't matter, not in Trump's and Traverse's universe. Has he asked you to go golfing yet Traverse seeing how you LOVE him SO MUCH.

Hopefully this is just the beginning of many desperately needed deep and drastic cuts to the massively bloated federal burocracy. Hundreds of admirable and well intentioned departments, programs, and entitlements, must be eliminated to avoid economic catastrophe, and the further erosion of or freedom, and the rights of the individual. The federal government was in intended to "promote" the general welfare of the people, not to "provide" the general welfare.
If these soon to be eliminated programs are so important that we can't live without them, and I would agree that many are, we the people will have to step up and provide these services at the state level, or through the private sector.
Finally we have a President that realizes his job is not a popularity contest, and is willing to accept negative poll numbers to get the long overdue job of reducing the size of government done.

That thumbs up sign of his says it all, up you and yours. Meals on Wheels for the elderly and disabled, feeding the children in schools, educational programs "not necessary"???
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
The only golden door that Trump cares about are the ones in his penthouse in Trump Tower.
