Do you support the plan to build a median in Warrenton’s Broadview Avenue?

The Virginia Department of Transportation has begun design of the project, intended to improve safety by limiting left turns across the busy byway. The median would extend from the traffic light at Route 211 to Roebling Street at McDonald’s. VDOT anticipates taking the $8-million project’s design to a public hearing in early 2019.

With the traffic on Bear Wallow now, adding even more will make a bad situation worse. Having an entrance to a store so close to the intersection with Roebling will cause long back ups at the Bear Wallow split. With an entrance to a "major" store so close to the 17/29 light I can see a substantial bottleneck for those cars entering Warrenton from Rt 17. The noise issue of trucks delivering goods as well as trucks emptying the dumpsters (usually a night) will make life in the houses near the store very unbearable.
Please be aware that Wear Wallow is not a commercial street and handles primarily residential traffic to include school busses.
With 5 major grocery store chains in Warrenton already is there a viable need for a 6th? The ultimate result of adding another is a further shrinkage of customers at the existing stores. I guess the question then becomes which will close first. Does Warrenton need another empty large building that in this case used to be a grocery store?
