The mother of one of Ms. Larson’s patients nominated her with these words: “My 24-year-old son had to have treatment for six weeks. Trenna was so caring and kind to my son. From day one, she found out what he wanted to eat every day before he arrived. She made sure he had red grapes and two cans of chocolate Ensure waiting. She made all her patients feel like they were the only one she had, when she had many.
“Sometimes the little things that someone does for you carry a lot of weight. We really appreciate all you do, by showing how much you love what you do, with compassion. Thank you for taking care of my son.”
The DAISY Award for Compassionate Nursing is given out every quarter; nurses anywhere in the health system are eligible for the honor. Nominations are accepted from Fauquier Health staff and from the public. To nominate a nurse, go to www. fauquierhealth.org and look for the daisy at the bottom of the home page.
