Local delegates pull bills for Sunday hunting
   February 06, 2012

Two legislators who represent Fauquier last week pulled legislation to lift Virginia’s ban on hunting on Sunday.

Del. Michael Webert (R-Marshall/18th) and Del. Scott Lingamfelter (R-Woodbridge/31st) had introduced bills that would permit Sunday hunting on private land.

Del. Webert and Del. Lingamfelter on Feb. 1 asked to pull their bills, HB 921 and HB 369, before discussion event started in the Agriculture, Chesapeake and Natural Resources subcommittee.

“We don’t have the votes,” Del. Lingamfelter told The Roanoke Times.

But, Sunday hunting advocates still hope to rally support for the legislation.

The Senate passed a bill to permit hunting on Sunday. But, it must go through the same House subcommittee to reach the full membership of that chamber.
