A state trooper assigned to patrol Fauquier allegedly committed sex crimes involving a juvenile before joining the Virginia police agency.
Virginia State Police on Monday arrested Trooper Christopher A. Carson, 29, of Bealeton and charged him with four crimes, according to Sgt. Les Tyler.
Mr. Carson faces charges of aggravated sexual battery, indecent liberties with a child and two counts of distributing pornography to a juvenile. The sexual bettery charge is a felony; the other three charges are misdemeanors.
State police say two of the charges are related to sexual misconduct with a juvenile more than a decade ago and before he worked as a trooper.
Mr. Carson remains in the Fauquier County jail without bond. He has remained on administrative leave since Dec. 27, pending outcome of the investigation, according to state police.
He joined the state police in July 2005.
