Fauquier’s state legislators will preview the 2022 General Assembly on Thursday morning at Lord Fairfax Community College near Warrenton.

The Fauquier Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Legislative Preview and State of County & Town breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Dec. 2 in The Barn at LFCC.

The cost is $15 per person and includes light breakfast buffet.

With control divided between Democrats and Republicans, the legislature will convene Wednesday, Jan. 12, in Richmond.

Republicans in the Nov. 2 election regained a majority in the House of Delegates and retook the governor’s office, which Democrats have held since 2014. Gov.-elect Glenn Youngkin will take office Jan. 15.

But, Democrats have a 21-19 advantage in the state Senate, which means the new governor and fellow Republicans would need help advancing their agenda during the two-month session.

Three Republicans and a Democrat represent Fauquier:

• Sen. Jill Holtzman Vogel (R-27th/Upperville), who has served in the legislature since 2008.

• Del. Michael Webert (R-18th/Marshall), who will start his fifth 2-year term in January.

• Del. Elizabeth Guzman (D-31st/Woodbridge), who will start her third 2-year term in January.

• Del. Phillip Scott (R-88th/Spotsylvania), elected to his first term Nov. 2.

The chamber event also will feature updates from board of supervisors Chairman Chris Granger (Center District) and Warrenton Mayor Carter Nevill.

The elected officials will provide their insight and answer questions.
