393-acre Camp Moss Hollow sells for $1.5 million
Camp Moss Hollow near Markham includes dozens of buildings.
The 393-acre Camp Moss Hollow near Markham sold recently for $1.5 million.
This home on Caelan Way near Broad Run sold for more than $1 million.
This property on Kettle Creek Drive near Catlett also sold for more than $1 million.
Family & Child Services of Washington D.C. Inc. purchased the property in 1966 and started building the camp that served underprivileged children, ages 7 to 14, each summer.
The six parcels include a dining hall, an educational building, cabins, administrative buildings, a swimming pool, a tennis court, a ropes course, a pond, trails and an amphitheater.
The Marshall District property went on the market in 2018 with an asking price of $2.59 million, according to Realtor.com. The listing had dropped to $1.85 million this month.
For tax purposes, the county assesses Camp Moss Holl at more than $2 million.

The sale tops the most recent list of Fauquier real estate transactions.
Two additional Fauquier property sales recently topped $1 million:
• A seven-bedroom brick home on almost 28 acres near Broad Run.
Built in 2012, the 5,600-square foot house has two full kitchens, a three-car garage, two fireplaces and geothermal heating and cooling.
The Scott District home on Caelan Way went on the market in May with an asking price of $959,000, according to Realtor.com.
Deborah Park of Re/Max Gateway LLL represented the seller and Mary Ann Bendinelli of Weichert Realtors in Manassas represented the buyer.
• A five-bedroom home on 10 acres near Catlett.
Built in 1989 Kettle Creek Drive, the house has a swimming pool, a hot tub, stone patio and fireplaces.
The Cedar Run District property went on the market at $1 million in April and sold for $50,000 more than the asking price, according to Realtor.com.
