5 Friday Fauquier factoids: BLM signs distributed here

Estimated number of “Black Lives Matter” yard signs, car magnets and bumper stickers distributed at the Saturday morning “Black Lives Matter Vigil for Action” gatherings at Warrenton’s Courthouse Square, according to Scott Christian.

The weekly events began there June 20.

Taking place from 10 to 10:45 a.m., the downtown vigils will continue through the fall, said Mr. Christian, president of the Northern Piedmont Chapter of the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy.

Organized by that chapter, the NAACP Fauquier County Branch and the League of Women Voters, the gatherings have drawn an average of more than 80 people per Saturday, he said.

The Labor Day weekend vigil attracted 122 people — the largest number of single-day participants since the effort started, Mr. Christian said.

The groups also have given away more than 50 “Hate Has No Home Here” yard signs, 100 copies of the NAACP's legislative agenda and 100 pocket cards to contact state lawmakers “as they presently debate criminal justice reform and COVID-relief legislation” during the Virginia General Assembly’s special session, Mr. Christian said in an email.

The first-year cost to county government to hire a Birmingham-based consulting firm to produce a market analysis and recruit retail prospects to Warrenton, Marshall, Bealeton, Opal and Remington.

In a work session Thursday, two representatives of Retail Strategies gave the board of supervisors a “virtual” overview of the company’s services.

“We typically do ask for a three-year engagement” from clients, Business Development Director Sarah Beth Thornton told the board. “Some retailers have a pretty short cycle. For example, Dunkin’ Donuts is a nine-month turnaround. But there are other retailers like grocery and Target and those kinds of brands — they’re a three- to five-year goal.”

The company’s fee to Fauquier would drop after the first year, Ms. Thornton said.

Retail Strategies has worked with the Town of Warrenton for the past 18 months.

Town Manager Brandie Schaeffer, who joined the virtual work session, described the Warrenton council and staff as pleased with the company’s work.

After talking with Fauquier staff, “I think taking” a joint retail recruitment effort “countywide . . . we would be more effective working together,” Ms. Schaeffer said.

The supervisors took no action after Retail Strategies’ presentation Thursday.

The number of diagnostic colonoscopies conducted at Fauquier Hospital in 2018, according to the most recent Virginia Health Information report on outpatient services, released Thursday.
The hospital charged a median $7,048 for those tests versus a statewide median of $5,962, VHI reported.

Ninety-nine arthroscopic knee surgeries took place at Fauquier Hospital with a median charge of $15,853 versus $15,813 statewide.

For 81 gallbladder removals, the hospital charged a median $19,169 versus $22,922 statewide.

A nonprofit organization, VHI collects and publishes data to help consumers, employers and other organizations make healthcare decisions.

Total Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office “calls for service” this year, as of Thursday.

The office had launched 536 criminal investigations in 2020.

$3 million

Budgeted but unspent general operating funds Fauquier County Public Schools had when the fiscal year ended June 30.

The school board on Monday night will review the funds and probably will ask the county board of supervisors to approve use of the money for a variety of expenditures, including:

• $645,000 to the nutrition fund.

• $600,000 for daycare services.

• $521,686 for consolidated services, including maintenance and human resources, shared with county government.

• $500,001 for increased “custodial support” the pandemic could require.

• $477,151 toward the Cedar Lee Middle School expansion and renovation.

• $201,839 for technology.

• $150,000 to buy used buses.

I could lecture you on systemic racism and class warfare for days, but it would have the same effect as if I were talking to a wall, I don’t support the dems either as they and they republicans have been profiting off of the working class for the entirety of both of our lives. However the fact that you can claim to know history yet see these mass hysterectomies being performed in Georgia at the ICE detention center and are not intelligent enough to connect the dots between 2020 USA and the eugenics 1939 Nazi Germany, but I guess so long as the cannibalistic baby blood drinking dems don’t win the election, a federal police state must be the epitome of freedom for you.

@Silli: Beginning last spring? Nope. After the lockdown, "virtual teaching" was a 30 minute Zoom meeting once a week. They're trying now, but this just doesn't work for 1st and 2nd grade. Teachers work very hard. The blame for this goes to the governor and the school board.

My preschooler is in private school. In person. Five days a week. Still no Wuflu there.

Marx-Engels, I find it detestable you and others would lecture me on systemic racism and class struggles as you support an evil Democrat agenda to systematically destroy and eradicate our Virginia, Confederate-American and American history, our uniquely American cultural, spiritual and political inheritance; our freedom; and our Natural Law Rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

In polite circles, we refer to that as "...of all the unmitigated gall..."

Get your hands off our U.S and Virginia Constitutions, our Bill of Rights and our Virginia Declaration of Rights- and we'll probably get along fine enough for now.

The amount of nutrition funds needed to assist the poor families is mind boggling. Why not approach the slum lords to lower their rent so people can afford to eat. There is not enough of subsidized apartments to accomodate the poor in the county so the slum lords over charge. The ridiculous amount to get into a rental home or apartment in this community is sad. The county supervisors need to start making calls to the land lords.

Jeffersonian, since you like links so much, here are two you should investigate -

You really don’t like people speaking out about systemic racism and class struggles that have existed not just throughout American history, but also throughout human history. You aren’t Jeffersonian at all, you’re just a fascist who just like the rest uses Christianity as a crutch for their oppressive and racist beliefs. Please don’t bother responding because I really just don’t care what else you have to say as you have already made your stance very clear to everyone.

My fellow U.S. Constitution supporting citizens, below are links to what the friendly news article won't tell you about our local Interfaith Alliance group and its host organization, a Chicago-based, Alinskyite effort organizing these Radical Left, "Black Lives Matter," anti-American, anti-Trump, pro-Islam demonstrations around the country:

Interfaith Alliance– a 13 state network whose issues are LGBT equality, hate crimes legislation, opposition to school vouchers, bigotry toward religious minorities and bullying of same. Its State of Belief weekly radio program parallels leftwing talking points on political issues.

Interfaith Dialogue is nothing more than a communist-contrived influence operation that continues the Cultural Marxist attack on Western Civilization. The American hard Left has partnered with Islam in an unholy alliance we call the Red-Green Axis. Their mutual goal is the subversion of Western laws, culture, and traditions, and our nation’s ultimate destruction, in preparation for the imposition of totalitarian rule.

Interfaith Dialogue is one element of the multifaceted strategy to subvert, discredit, and shut down all opposition to that goal. It takes the form of a disinformation campaign designed to enlist gullible and largely ignorant Christians, Jews, and others to work against their own interests, while interjecting Islam as a religion worthy not merely of respect, but submission to. Lefty “Christians” have fed right into it as the latest cool fad. It has the added benefit of putting its biggest target, Christianity, at war with itself.

It is a dangerous, malevolent agenda. Unfortunately, we tend to give the Left the benefit of the doubt. Because they have recruited well-meaning people, we impute good motives to all of them, assuming they are just naïve or ignorant. This is an understandable but dangerous assumption and is exactly the reaction the enemy is looking for. It allows us to congratulate ourselves on being fair-minded towards our opponents while flattering ourselves to think we know better than them.

This self-serving rationalization allows us to deny their truly malevolent intentions. We thus ignore or minimize the danger, and rationalize doing nothing, because confronting them carries real risk. We may publicly embarrass ourselves if not articulate or clever enough. We also open ourselves up to being called, “Islamophobes,” “haters,” “bigots,” etc. The Left deeply understands this aspect of human nature and has used it to manipulate entire societies into death traps. We ignore it at our peril.

FOR SHAME ON THIS LOCAL GROUP, NORTHEN PIEDMONT CHAPTER OF THE VIRGINIA INTERFAITH CENTER FOR PUBLIC POLICY and its Radical Marxist Left Component Organizations- who have become no better than the old Klu Klux Klan and the Nazi Party in their weekly menacing Old Town Warrenton Courthouse Square gatherings in black Goth clothing, "BLACK LIVES MATTER" and "HATE HAS NO HOME HERE" Signage and anti American, anti-Trump Ministers of Hate. Fellow Fauquier citizens, do you find it ironic that our local Town of Warrenton Government would allow these promoters of "Black Lives Matter" Domestic Terrorism to gather in Courthouse Square every week while banning similar organizations with similar missions such as the Klu Klux Klan and the Nazi Party to demonstrate in this same threatening manner in our public square? This is the same local Radical Left group which shamelessly gathered in February, 2017 in Warrenton's Courthouse Square to bash President Trump through loudspeakers for his moderate efforts to uphold our U.S. Constitution and secure our nation's borders and impose travel bans from several Islamic Terrorist Host Nations- they even brought in an Radical Islam Imam who spoke Farsi at that very ugly Marxist Political Rally which had absolutely zero mainstream "Christian" representation or views at all. This same local group, which now has been depressing local Old Town Main Street business traffic for months now, frightening all innocent residents and tourists who encounter their ongoing, weekly, 10 AM Saturday morning demonstrations in Warrenton's Courthouse Square ever since George Floyd died of a Fentanyl overdose (Floyd had swallowed drugs and had three times the lethal dose of Fentanyl in his system at the time of his arrest for counterfeiting and being restrained for attacking responding Minneapolis Law Enforcement Officers). Instead of being another crime statistic, the George Floyd death has been hijacked by this local organization and its Chicago-based Alinskyite organizers to expand its mission of anti-American, anti-Trump and domestic terrorism instead. But don't just take my word alone- perform your own research:

I have yet to meet anyone who is happy about the pandemic and very difficult decisions having to be made to try and keep it from spreading and killing. I am especially taken aback at the vitriol aimed at our teachers and other school staff. Does anyone really think teachers caused the pandemic? Folks, they have put in countless hours preparing for and initiating virtual teachingbeginning last spring, through the summer, and now into the fall. Does anyone really think it has been a picnic for them? They are earning their pay, actually, they should be getting overtime for the countless hours they have been putting in. They, too, are remarkable, caring people caught up in a situation that never, ever should have gotten this bad had we had any semblance of honest leadership from the White House rather than lies, denial, total self-interest, and seething hatred.

How about Fauquier County and Fauquier County School Board allocate funding to the FCCC program which has been so extraordinary beneficial to all the working parents in this county that need safe childcare during this trying time. These are remarkable caring people doing an excellent job in helping our children navigate their online learning and staying focused when they should be in the classroom with a teacher we are paying for to teach.
