Fauquier citizens had voted early, casting their ballots in person at the county registrar’s office, as of Friday morning.

Early in-person voting for the fall election will expand to remote sites at Bealeton and Vint Hill on Monday, Oct. 18.

Voters must register by Oct. 12 to participate in the Nov. 2 election, in which Virginians will select the governor, lieutenant governor, state attorney general and all 100 House of Delegates members.

In last year’s presidential elections, 19,574 Fauquier citizens voted early, representing 44 percent of those who cast ballots.

The deed recordation feeds Amazon Data Services Inc. paid to the Fauquier County Circuit Court clerk’s office related to the purchase of 41.7 acres last week in Warrenton.

Of that total, $119,110 goes to the state, $52,938 goes to the county and the balance covers various state and local fees, according to Clerk of the Court Gail Barb, an elected constitutional officer.

The $39.7-million purchase ranks as the highest during her four decades in the clerk’s office, Ms. Barb said.
