The fifth annual Warrenton Town Limits patriotic celebration will take place from 3 p.m. until the fireworks finale Friday, June 28.

The 65-acre Warrenton Aquatics and Recreation Facility hosts the free celebration, which has gotten bigger each year. Last year, Warrenton Town Limits attracted a record 20,000 people.

The town staff counted 8,400 people crossing the bridge at the WARF in one hour, according to Councilman Sean Polster (At-large), who helped start the Independence Day-themed event in 2015.

“It’s pretty neat to see the community coming together — people who haven’t seen each other in six months running into each other at Town Limits,” Mr. Polster said. “Great partnerships have been formed to make it possible.”

This year’s event for the first time will feature a performance by the U.S. Army 3rd Infantry Old Guard Drill Team.

Six aircraft will participate, including helicopters from the U.S. Coast Guard, the D.C. Army National Guard, U.S. Customs and Border Control, the Army’s 12th Aviation Battalion and Air Care Medivac.

The event will include:

• The “Fauquier Health Family Fun Zone” with obstacle courses and other games.

• Local vendors, restaurants and food trucks.

• Entertainment, including a DJ and the Fauquier Community Band playing patriotic tunes.

In addition to the WARF, parking will be available at the nearby Fauquier High School and the Harvey Pearson National Guard Armory. Shuttle buses also will run to and from Warrenton Middle School and the Warrenton post office for those who park in municipal lots downtown.

In addition to the fireworks, military demonstrations and displays, will there also be a parade, flyovers and an address on the Old Courthouse steps by our favorite mayor? [:-)
