Bealeton man allegedly stole driver’s cell phone

A Bealeton man allegedly reached into a car early Wednesday morning and stole an acquaintance’s cell phone, according to the Fauquier sheriff’s office.

“Deputies responded to a reported robbery and larceny in the area of Bain Court in Bealeton on Wednesday morning at approximately 1:24,” Sgt. James Hartman said. “Deputies met with the victim at a different address in the Bealeton area to obtain information.
“The victim alleged he was picking up a friend in the Marsh Run Mobile Home Community, when they were flagged down by a male they had known from school. As the victim stopped the car, the male jumped in the driver’s window, in an apparent attempt to enter the vehicle. As the driver attempted to get away, the male suspect grabbed the driver’s cell phone from his lap. The driver accelerated and left the area.”

The suspect, Christian Leon, 18, faces charges robbery, grand larceny and entering a vehicle to commit a crime, Sgt. Hartman said.

Mr. Leon remained at large Wednesday afternoon.
Anyone who knows Mr. Leon’s whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 540-347-3300.  A caller’s identity may remain anonymous.
