Best Bets: Agriculture Expo, Keel brothers concert

Larry and Gary Keel will perform Saturday night at Gloria’s in Warrenton, and the Fauquier Agricultural Expo will feature livestock and exhibits Thursday through Saturday at the county fairgrounds.

With the county fair taking a break this year, the Virginia Cooperative Extension Fauquier County Unit and local 4-H Clubs will host the expo. It will feature livestock shows, agricultural technology demonstrations and an exhibit hall with art and home-grown produce. Free admission.

Acclaimed flat-picking guitarist Larry Keel returns to his home county to perform with older brother Gary, who taught him to play at age 7.

A two-time Telluride Bluegrass Festival flatpicking champion, Larry Keel has released 15 albums, has headlined at Carnegie Hall and has performed with many of the world’s best musicians. He was a founding member of Magraw Gap in 1990 with local musicians Danny Knicely and Will Lee.

The Larry Keel Experience, which tours nationally, includes his wife Jenny Keel on upright base and Jared Pool on mandolin.

Tickets for Saturday’s show are $25; free for children 12 and under with adults.
