Best Bets: Patriotic events set throughout the county

From a brass quintet’s patriotic concert to booming fireworks displays and a community celebration in Remington, this weekend in Fauquier offers ample opportunities to celebrate the nation’s independence.

Additionally, the 101st Warrenton Pony Show continues through Sunday, with the Flying Circus Airshow near Bealeton, polo at Great Meadow and a blacksmithing demonstration at Sky Meadows State Park providing more options.


Warrenton Pony Show

The 101st edition of the “A”-rated show features a variety of classes for juniors, ponies, amateurs and Connemaras. Vendors, food, special events and silent auction. Free admission.


Warrenton Fireworks

Puffenbarger Insurance and Fauquier Health will sponsor the 12-1/2-minute display. WARF parking lot closed. Closest viewing from Fauquier High School and WARF sports fields parking lots.


Independence Day Celebration
4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 3
Remington Community Garden
150 W. Bowen St., Remington


Music (Josh Lowe from 6 to 8 p.m.), food vendors, Fauquier FRESH on Wheels and patriotic presentation by Harold J. Davis American Legion Post 247. Free admission.


“Tribute to America”
Commonwealth Brass Quintet

Grace Episcopal Church Concert Series

The Commonwealth Brass has earned a reputation as one of the most highly respected and sought-after chamber groups in the mid-Atlantic region. All members performed for significant world events in the Washington, D.C., area and around the world as members of military bands. They are also active performers, clinicians and soloists throughout the United States. The concert will take place inside the church with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Tickets: $25 for adults, $15 for students 18 and older, free for those younger.

Three matches starting at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tailgating and children’s games. “Military Appreciation” theme. VIP options available.
Car pass: $25 in advance, $30 (cash) at gate.


Great Meadow Fireworks
6 to 10:30 p.m. Sunday, July 4

The events center will host its 32nd fireworks display and related events to celebrate Independence Day. Music, tailgate competition and 25-minute fireworks display at dark. General admission: $40 for vehicle and up to five people.
