The Flying Circus Airshow near Bealeton opens its 48th season Sunday.
Topping this weekend’s entertainment, Warrenton’s 1st Friday celebration returns for a new season. The event includes a variety of activities and vendors along Main Street, open to citizens.
Other weekend options in Fauquier include the popular Virginia Gold Cup horse races, two high school spring plays, the opening of The Flying Circus Airshow, the community theatre’s performance of “Big Fish” and a concert at Drum & Strum.

The Fauquier Community Theatre presents the opening weekend of the musical “Big Fish.” The play follows Edward Bloom, a story-telling traveling salesman whose larger-than-life stories thrill everyone. The 93rd running of the Virginia Gold Cup horse races takes place at Great Meadow. The event features eight steeplechase and flat races starting at noon, pari-mutuel betting, Jack Russell Terrier races, a hat contest, tailgating and more.
