The satellite polling places and the registrar’s office also will be open Saturdays, Oct. 24 and 31, for early voting.
I’ve heard time and again that it was simple, easy, in and out. They’re so glad they did it that way.

Fauquier’s two “no excuse early voting” satellite polling places will open Tuesday at Bealeton and Vint Hill.

Voters on Nov. 3 will help elect a president, a U.S. senator and two U.S. House of Representatives members.

The county registrar first made early voting available to residents on Sept. 18 at the central office at 528 Waterloo Road in Warrenton.

As of Friday, 5,157 Fauquier voters had cast ballots in person there, according to Deputy Registrar Diana Dutton said. That represents 9.5 percent of the county’s 54,088 registered voters.

The satellite polls at the Bealeton Depot and the Vint Hill Village Green Community Center will open weekdays at 9 a.m. and close at 4 p.m. The registrar's office operates daily from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All three locations will operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, Oct. 24 and 31. The early voting option at all three locations will end Oct. 31.

Fauquier Electoral Board member Jane Hurst believes the satellite locations will function as efficiently as the central office.

Besides voting by mail or on Election Day, “it’s another opportunity” for residents to cast ballots, Ms. Hurst said of the early, in-person option.

Voters seem to like it.

“Most people I talk to have already voted,” said Ms. Hurst, who serves as secretary of the three-member electoral board. “I’ve heard time and again that it was simple, easy, in and out. They’re so glad they did it that way.”

Early in-person and absentee voting also will reduce lines and waiting times for the “stalwarts” who want to vote on Election Day, she said. “So it’s good for everyone.”
