Fauquier Halloween events: trick-or-treating, parade

Children and pets decked out in costumes will take to the streets for Halloween candy and fun this week. Dozens of Halloween-themed family entertainment takes place throughout Fauquier starting Thursday.

Liberty High School trick-or-treating
5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26
6300 Independence Ave., Bealeton

Liberty’s Student Council Association hosts its annual family trick-or-treat night with games and candy in first floor classrooms. Open to children in preschool through fifth-grade. Free.

Fauquier High School trunk-or-treat
5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27
705 Waterloo Road, Warrenton

Student clubs and sports teams will host a night of candy, crafts, caramel corn and a petting zoo at the high school in Warrenton. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes and bring a bag to collect candy. Sponsored by the school’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America club. Free.

Annual trunk-or-treat at the WARF
5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27
800 Waterloo Road, Warrenton

The Warrenton parks and recreation department and Families 4 Fauquier hosts a community Halloween event with candy hand-outs from about 100 vehicles at the WARF. About 1,500 citizens attended last year’s event. Free. In case of inclement weather, check the WARF Facebook page for more information.

Trick-or-treat at Warrenton Village Center
6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27
251 W. Lee Highway, Warrenton

Stores in the Warrenton Village shopping center including Staples, Petco, Marshalls, Rankin’s True Value Hardware and others will give out candy, balloon art and other goodies. Rain or shine. Free.

Kettle Run High School trunk-or-treat
3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28
740 Academic Ave., Nokesville

Kettle Run High School student clubs will set up themed “booths” for trick-or-treating. Concessions available. Free.

Battlefield Baptist Church trunk-or-treat
5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29
4361 Lee Highway, Warrenton

Battlefield Baptist Church near New Baltimore hosts a trunk-or-treat party with candy. Free.

Trinity Lutheran trunk-or-treat
6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28
5439 Old Alexandria Turnpike, Warrenton

Trinity Lutheran Church in New Baltimore hosts a night of candy and family fun. Free.

Halloween Happyfest parade
2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29
Main Street, Warrenton

The Town of Warrenton hosts its annual Halloween parade. Children and pets in costume may gather at Fifth Street and parade down Main Street. Free.

CK Home & Hardware Halloween Experience
4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31
6398 Village Center Drive, Bealeton

Bealeton’s True Value hardware store hosts a Halloween party for children ages 12 and younger. The event includes face painting, crafts, airbrush tattoos, balloon art and giveaways. Free.

Orlean trunk-or-treat
6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31
6838 Leeds Manor Road, Orlean

The Orlean Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department hosts a family friendly trunk-or-treat from 6 to 6:30 p.m. A magician will perform from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Free pizza and sodas. Free admission.

Warrenton ghost walks
7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27
6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28
10 Ashby Street, Warrenton

The Fauquier Historical Society members dressed in costume will lead hourly tours throughout Old Town Warrenton. Limited tickets available. Adults and children 12 and older, $13; $5 children 11 and younger.

Haunted Hollow
7 to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27-28
8275 Maple Tree Lane, Warrenton

Participants will walk a haunted trail in and around the barns of an abandoned farm with spooky actors for about 25 minutes. $18 per person at the door.

Big Band Halloween Hop
7 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28
4133 Rectortown Road, Marshall

The Fauquier Parks and Recreation Department hosts a special masquerade dance. Costumes not required, but encouraged. The Silver Tone Swing Band will perform classic Halloween songs including the Transylvania Polka and Witchcraft at the Marshall Community Center. Beginner swing dance lesson at 7 p.m. Refreshments. $10 per person.
