Give Local Piedmont again raises over $1.2 million

For the second consecutive year, Give Local Piedmont raised more than $1.2 million for nonprofits in Fauquier and three other counties.

With 3,397 donors participating, the 24-hour online campaign concluded at midnight. In eight years, it has raised more than $7 million.

The Warrenton-based Northern Piedmont Community Foundation organizes the fundraising blitz, which this year has 197 participating nonprofits in Fauquier, Culpeper, Rappahannock and Madison counties.

According to unofficial results, these 10 organizations raised the most among Fauquier participants:

• $74,522 ¬— Fresta Valley Christian School from 162 donors.

• $45,905 — Highland School, 106 donors.

• $42,195 — Fauquier Free Clinic, 202 donors.

• $32,056 — Fauquier SPCA, 158 donors.

• $20,254 — Fauquier Family Shelter Services, 81 donors.

• $18,189 — Fauquier Habitat for Humanity, 128 donors.

• $18,160 — Mental Health Association of Fauquier, 108 donors.

• $17,975 — Fauquier Education Farm, 136 donors.

• $15,455 — Cold War Museum, 136 donors.

• $14,960 — Morgan’s Message, 40 donors.

“From the bottom of our hearts, the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation and our nonprofit organizations thank you,” the organizer said on the campaign website Wednesday morning. “Your dollars have great impact. By giving together, we are building a stronger, more vibrant community. Thank you for being part of Give Local Piedmont and for investing in your community’s future.”
