Three people face felony charges after a Wednesday night traffic stop near Warrenton resulted in the discovery of heroin in their vehicle, according to the Fauquier sheriff’s office.

A deputy stopped the vehicle at 8:45 p.m. on Lee Highway at Nordix Drive just north of town, Sgt. Stephen Lewis said.

A sheriff’s K-9 detected drugs “on a free air sniff” around the vehicle, according to Sgt. Lewis.

Searching the vehicle, deputies found 141 heroin capsules, two grams of heroin, narcotics paraphernalia and cash, he said.

Deputies charged:

Arthur Peugh, 32, of Culpeper, the driver, with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Tristin Smith, 23, of Orange County, with possession of heroin.

Nicholas Young, 26, of Culpeper, with possession of heroin with the intent to distribute and a Culpeper County probation violation.

All three remained in the Fauquier County Adult Detention Center without bond after their arrests.
